Parents are constantly seeking information about how to best bring up their teenagers at this crucial stage in their lives. Teen years are where the most dramatic changes occur in your teen, from physical appearance to education wise, that is, when finishing high school and joining college, as well as choosing friends amidst negative peer pressure.

You will be relieved to know that there are plenty of parenting resources that you can find online that will guide you in the right direction in how to handle your teen’s issues as they arise. These sites are written both by fellow parents of teenagers and counselors who give the professional and experiential information that you can easily use.

4Parents.gov is one such online resource for parents with teens. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sponsors this site and it gives information mainly to do with sexual development and puberty, mental health, and advice on how to communicate to your teen about all the above issues. This site is simple to read and understand for any parent to use, and all the relevant information is cited to reliable sources. Any parent will be grateful for 4Parents.gov.

Another important site is ByParents-ForParents.com, a site sponsored by the CRC Health Group. This website is as its name suggests, where parents are encouraged to email their contributions and suggestions which are then highlighted on the site. Thus far, parents of teenagers have written extensively about guiding their kids during and after breakups, co-parenting after divorce, inspiring self confidence in teenagers and numerous other topics about all aspects of being a parent of a teen.

Yet another excellent parenting resource is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Nutrition.gov. This is great for parents to learn the importance of a good and healthy diet for their teenage children, especially since the emphasis on parenting teens is on the emotional and psychological aspects of the teens’ lives. Nutrition.gov has information about helping your child eat healthy to prevent obesity and malnutrition, empowering the youth to improve their health, and nutritional information for each stage of life.

As a parent, do not only focus on solving the problems of your teen after they occur, but do strive to prevent them in the first place. From the above resources you will find that it is best to remain open and honest with your teen, maintain a discipline of healthy eating, and to not just be a parent but also a friend to your teen. Make good use of these parenting resources and see the change in your teen.

Matters concerning troubled teens are growing by the day, and thankfully, so are their solutions. Trouble teen news should keep you updated with the facts about troubled teenagers, the warning signs and how to get past them. You can also use these resources to understand the factors that can make your healthy teen troubled and how to prevent them to the best of your abilities.

Before we proceed, who or what is a troubled teen and what does it involve? A troubled teen is a young person who is exhibiting different, mostly negative behaviors which are unlike their usual selves. A common example is when a teen who was previously outgoing becomes withdrawn, and this may be as a result of a change in environment, bullying at school, keeping the wrong friends or inabilities in studying and socializing such as ADHD or dyslexia. Parents should know how to go about such situations with their teens should they arise.

About.com:Teens section has all a parent should know about how to raise their troubled teen to full recovery and health. Some of the issues covered include bringing up teens after divorce, sexual abuse and self injury, teens running away from home or school, depression, suicidal tendencies and several other issues of concern. Parents also get to take quizzes on About.com that are to do with their troubled teens as a way of exposing the truth and providing solutions to these problems.

For more information on trouble teen news, HelpYourTeens.com is another very valuable online resource for parents. Information on the site comes from Parents Universal Resource Experts, or P.U.R.E that gives solutions for parents with troubled teens. You will find details about how to select the right option for your teen’s improvement mentally and academically, be it through military school or residential treatment centers.

On the same note, the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov has crucial information for parents about choosing a private residential treatment program for their troubled teens. There are specific guidelines that do help parents select the right institutions for their teens’ benefits, some of which include checking for the license information for the program from the Health and Human Services Department in your state or the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The organization P.U.R.E mentioned above is recognized by both and also provides more guidelines for treatment programs in the country.

So before you select any course of action for your troubled teen, do look at all these resources and make the best decision for the sake of your teen’s welfare and health.

Raising-up teenagers is not an easy task. You sit down and start recalling the “good” old days when they were cute and cuddly. Where did I go wrong? Is a question, most if not all parents have asked themselves at these trying moments.

The average teenager in the twenty-first century face’s a myriad of issues. A few of these issues includes: family relations, health matters, money matters, school life, identity, social and communal matters, relationships and sex.

You as a parent should be a beacon of guidance to your teenager. In this regard, you should provide advice and instructions while at the same time, maintaining strict adherence to discipline.

Balancing the two can prove to be challenging. Teenagers do not want advice or instructions. They want to break the rules and face the consequences. Parents should learn when to show tough love and when to let teenagers make their own mistakes.

Drawing this line can be a painful affair especially in these modern times. Parents face emerging issues that were hither-to unheard of.

Issues like: inter-net addiction, video game addiction, pornography and sex addiction, teenage orgies e.t.c; are just but a few of the parenting challenges of the twenty-first century.

You should not be caught napping in this information age if you have teenagers. Gone are the days of snooping around the bedroom, searching pockets and sniffing to catch a whiff of banned substances.

Today you need to tell the difference between a w.a.p enabled cell phone and one with G.P.R.S. capability. You should be familiar with new media and social networking. You should also know the terms and language of new media. This ensures you are not kept in the dark by your teenager.

Parents also need to learn the best ways of broaching sensitive issues to their teenagers without raising the red flag. Matters relating to sex and relationships further education and lifestyle should be discussed with teenagers at one point or another.

Research has shown that evading the “talk” is a main cause of troubled teenagers.

www.byparents-for parents.com is a useful web site for those facing troublesome teens.

The goal of By Parents-For Parents is to share information on parenting teens. Parents struggling with teens whose problem behavior is out of control can touch base with those who have weathered the storms.

Parentingteensonline.com offers a wide variety of blog-sites and resources including audio tapes c.d’s books magazines e.t.c to assist parents with teenagers.

Teenage is one of the most exciting phases in your life. The passage between childhood and adulthood is a tumultuous one. It is one that should be taken with a mixture of care and caution freedom and experimentation. Most teenagers find it difficult to balance the two. It is not easy without guidance, counseling prayer and the occasional hard lesson from Mother Nature itself.

Teenage is a totally new experience in today’s information age. Most adults still reminisce on the past when things were much simpler. The modern teenager faces the joys and challenges that come with information technology.

Almost everything is available virtually in today’s world. Teenagers can access whatever they please at the touch of a button. The good, bad and the ugly are all available online which makes parents a worried lot.

Positive parenting and guidance is essential to guide teenagers through the murky elements of the information age. In this regard, both the parent and the teen should learn to filter the negative aspects of today’s realities and embrace the positive ones.

Teenagers can access positive websites from helpfortroubledteens.net. The site has links giving valuable information to teenagers on many issues of concern.

For the health conscious teenager, teengrowth.com is the website of choice. This is a unique and interactive site tailored towards the health interests and general well being of teenagers. There is information on alcohol, emotions, drugs, family, friends, School life, sex and drug abuse.

Access to the trendiest positive information can be obtained from teenadvice.about.com

The website has a wide range of information from dating sex kissing and flirting to shopping and money tips. You can learn how to score a summer job and how to spend the wages you earn simultaneously.

Teenagers can access the inter-net to get tips on gift ideas, summer and winter vacation activities, hobbies and interests, love and relationships e.t.c.

Teenagers can also post their own blog sites on the inter-net. This is one way to keep them busy. Social networking is also encouraged. Parents should limit the time their teenagers spend on such sites as face book and twitter.

teenhealthfx.com is a website by teens and for teens. This interactive and fun website is managed by teenage advisory committees. They offer answers to fellow teens on questions posted on the site.

Parents should set limits on the time teenagers spend online. Unlimited access to the inter-net may interfere with more vital issues and lead to addiction.

Parenting should be rewarding, effective and enjoyable. All parents need advice every now and then to ensure that they raise their children in the best way possible. Positive parenting is all about raising your children with understanding, in a loving, reasonable and protective way. A positive parent is also a role model to His children.

Positive parenting

Positive parenting includes:

Having Quality Time with Your Teen

Parents need to spend quality time with their children because this greatly affects their self esteem. The amount of time is not as important as the quality of time spent with your children.

Role models

Parents should teach by example. They should not require good behavior in their teens whereas there kids cannot see the same being exemplified in their parents. Parents should always remember that actions speak louder than words.

Let the Teens Feel Valuable

Positive parenting involves allowing your children to help you do some chores or work. The parents should affirm their kids and make them feel useful and valuable in the house.

Allow Your Teens to Learn From Their Mistakes

Parents should not rob their children of the opportunity to learn from the consequences of their mistakes or actions.

Discipline Your Teens in a Logical Manner

Positive parenting involves effective discipline which; promotes good behavior and self control, encourages self responsibility, protects and strengthens the teens self esteem and strengthens the parent-child bond. Some practical ways of discipline are role modeling, encouragement, consequences, charts and reward.

Tell Your Teens That You Love Them

Parents should condemn every bad behavior they see in their teens. Parents should also tell their children that they love them.

Firm and kind

Positive parenting involves being firm and kind at the same time. Positive parents should be consistent.

Have the End In Mind

Positive parenting involves raising children so that they become responsible adults in the future. Parents should have this in mind when disciplining their children.

Building Your Teenagers Self Esteem

How teenagers feel about themselves can affect; the way they choose their friends, the way they get along with others and they way they develop their potential. Your teenagers self esteem is a valuable thing and should be handled with care. You can protect your teenagers self esteem by not calling them with derogative words, by not using sarcasm, by complimenting, praise and encouragement.

Teenagers often undergo a challenging transitional stage of psychological and physical development. The psychological, biological and social changes accompanying teenage development often prove to challenging both to the parents and the teenagers themselves. The changes associated with teen age are part of normal human development. Any adult person experienced many of such teenage changes at one point in their lives.

Raising Teens is a Challenge

Raising teenagers has never been an easy task to parents. Even teachers at school sometimes confront the challenges that accompany such teenage development. Whereas there is a brighter side to being a teen, many teenagers experience a myriad of disorders, some of which could even ruin their lives. Other disorders could make such teenagers better individuals in life.

Teens Desire for More Freedom

Teen age is normally associated with increased quest for independence on the part of the teenagers. The parents who fully understand this teenage quest for increased independence develop a more cautious, less stringent approach in handling their teen children, lest they make matters worse in the homes. Many of them supervise their teenage children less and allow them to socialize more with the opposite sex. At times, the parents even grant their teen children permission to attend certain social functions.

Conduct Disorders in Teens Are Normal

The biggest fear of many parents is that cases of teenage conduct disorders are on the rise. According to Wikipedia.com, conduct disorder is a behavioral pattern which violates the rights or social norms of other people. However, most of the teenagers who experience such disorders often grow up to lead normal lives. Many of them become better, responsible and law abiding citizens. The disorders can nevertheless be treated through family therapy, peer counseling and expert counseling if this is necessary. When parents decide to consult professional psychological help for their teenage children, they should opt for a professional with expertise in teenagers’ mental health. This category of experts could be useful in better diagnosis and management of the teen’s conduct disorders.

Help To Teens with Conduct Disorders

Teen with conduct disorders could also be helped socially. This can be done by establishing a support system for them, which could involve peers, family members or other significant members of the teen’s life. These could be teachers or church leaders. However, early treatment is essential to the recovery of teens with disorders like depression.

Transition into Adulthood

Nevertheless, the teen age does not last forever. There is always an end to this when they eventually transit into adulthood. At this point, they can be legally entrusted to undertake certain roles like driving, drinking, marrying and many more.

Parenting a teen can be one of the toughest challenges for any parent. The situation is even worse when the teenagers develop chronic depression or acute conduct disorders. Many parents at times find it hard to accept the fact that the teens now desire to be more independent as they transit into adulthood. Parents are often aware that this is a delicate stage of the children’s development and may exercise even more stringent controls on their teenagers. They also become more cautious on the changing behavior of their teenage children. However, such parents face rebellion from their teenage children, who expect to be more independent and feel they can do whatever they feel like without question.

Parental Influence Will Reduce

Although, some of such teenage behavior can be dangerous to both the parents and their teenage children, it nevertheless puts them in a better position to appreciate the ensuing changes. As parental influence keeps waning, their teenage children become more prone to the influence of their peers and other people. The teens get more exposed to the opposite sex, crime, drug and alcohol abuse. They also fall prey to the temptation of premarital sex and unacceptable behavior.

Teenagers Are Expectant Adults

Parents, however, need specialized skills in raising their teenage children. They need to understand that they are no longer dealing with children, but persons who are in transition to adulthood. This is a stage where teenagers are gradually finding their own identity by disentangling from their parents. Although, these teenagers are not yet mature to confront adult responsibilities, they want to be treated and respected like adults. Parents should not shy away from enlightening their teenagers on issues surrounding teenage sexuality. They should also guide their children on association with the opposite sex and peer influence. They should grant their teenage children more freedom, but warn then that such freedom has its ups and downs.

Dealing with Secretive Teenagers

At times, teenagers become more secretive and are keen on their privacy. At this stage, parents should stay more engaged with them without causing mayhem. They should remember that their teenage children have a right to privacy while carefully monitoring their whereabouts and changes in behaviour. The parents should also be sensitive on their teenage children’s problems, even if they appear trivial they seem. By listening to their teenage children issues of whichever magnitude, they create more confidence and trust in the teenage children. The teens could become more open to their parents or listen more to them. Whichever challenge the parents face in raising their children, they should understand that this is simply a significant developmental stage that every normal human being experiences.

Wikipedia defines Conduct Disorders as a psychiatric category that describes a pattern of repetitive behavior where the rights of others or the current social norms are violated. From this definition, the conclusion that may be drawn out is that individuals with Conduct Disorders are bad news. If you know someone who has this disorder, the first thing to do to help him or her is to learn more about the disorder. After all, it would be hard to extend help to someone when you have no idea as to what the implications of his or her illness are.

Beyond that, you can also consult with a mental health professional. In choosing a medical practitioner , opt for someone who specializes in teen’s mental health because there are various ways by which doctors diagnose and treat each case, and although each case of Conduct Disorder is special, it is still best to go for one who is trained in managing teens with Conduct Disorders. Another option is to explore the treatment options available. The purpose of this is to make the treatment less generalized and more individualized. Lastly, a person who sincerely wants to help a troubled teen who suffers from Conduct Disorders id to establish a support system for him or her, one that will involve the family, the friends, and the other members of that teen’s social circle.

Helping teens with Conduct Disorders is vital in upholding a community that thrives on being there for others. Recognizing the need to help teens is synonymous to the recognition that these teens are the future pillars of our society; thus they need to be tended to so that when their time comes, they will also be able to contribute well to the rest of the society.

The number of teenagers who have Conduct Disorders are increasing. If you are among those who have Conduct Disorders, this is great news for you: Research has shown that children and teens who have been diagnosed with Conduct Disorders grew up to lead normal and healthy lives. Meaning, no run-ins with the law enforcers and behavioral problems that tend to keep them in trouble in one way or another. They are reported to do well as adults; responsible citizens who are law abiding and not at all wreaking havoc to the people around them.

Based on that research, it was also concluded that Conduct Disorder has both genetic and environmental components. Moreover, research also attests that a Conduct Disorder is not a dead end for those who are afflicted with it because there are promising treatments for this condition. This is in contrast with the reports that the treatment for this disorder is ineffective. Examples of effective treatment approaches include functional family therapy, multi-systemic therapy, and cognitive behavioral approaches which focus on building skills such as anger management. Pharmacological intervention alone is not sufficient for the treatment of conduct disorder.
